How to cut up LUSH soaps

What are the benefits of cutting up a soap? I hear you say.
Well, when a soap is put into a bathroom, or by the sink, the constant damp air and water that it comes into contact with, means that the soap breaks down, and gradually dissapears. If we think about this logically, that means that a lot of the soap will be wasted. If you put a smaller block of soap into the bathroom, you will use it up quicker, meaning that the water and dampness surrounding the soap has less time to break down, and the smaller surface area means that it absorbs, and attracts less water. So your soaps will last longer!

Now that we have got the sciencey bit over and done with, lets get started on how to cut up our soaps!
So what will you need?
  • A sharp knife
  • A chopping board
  • The soap you want to cut up
  • Some hot water
PLEASE BE AWARE IF YOU ARE UNDER 18 ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU ARE SUPERVISED BY A RESPONSIBLE ADULT WHEN USING A KNIFE.

Warm your knife under a tap of running hot water, or a bowl of hot water. Always be careful around hot water, as it can burn and cause danger.Firstly decide how many pieces you want to cut the soap into. Then make a small cut into your soap, only going about half a cm down into the soap.

Then rock the knife to side to cut through the soap, and viola!

When you have finished cutting the soaps up, you could wrap them in tissue paper, or whatever you think!
